Unleash the Fun: Your Guide to Setting Up and Using Your Mobile T-Shirt Cannon

Congratulations on getting your mobile t-shirt cannon! Get ready to bring excitement to any event. This guide will walk you through the setup process step-by-step, ensuring safe and successful launches.

T-Shirt Cannon with backpack harness, hose, trigger, and barrel

What's included with Your R&B Confetti T-Shirt Cannon?

Your T-Shirt Cannon package includes:

  • A comfortable backpack harness for secure handling.
  • A powerful 5lb CO2 tank (empty).
  • A flexible hose with an integrated trigger assembly.
  • A sleek barrel with quick-connect fittings for rapid setup.

Important Note for CO2 Tanks: Due to shipping regulations, CO2 tanks can only ship empty. You can easily get it filled or exchanged for a full tank at any gas supply store (we recommend checking Airgas.com for locations near you).

Safety First!

Before you begin, please read these important safety precautions:

  • Never aim the cannon at people or animals. T-shirts can be launched with considerable force and could cause injury.
  • Wear appropriate eye protection when operating the cannon.
  • Use only the recommended CO2 tank size (5 lb) and high-pressure hose. Using incompatible components can be dangerous.
  • Ensure all connections are secure before pressurizing the system.
  • Never attempt to modify the cannon or its components.
  • Keep the CO2 tank away from extreme heat and direct sunlight.
  • Always depressurize the system completely before disconnecting any components or storing the cannon.
  • This unit should not be used by children; it is designed for adult operation only. While adult supervision is required when minors are present, direct use of the t-shirt cannon should be restricted to adults.

Be aware of your surroundings and ensure a clear launch path free of obstructions.

Now, let's get your t-shirt cannon ready for action!

CO2 tank secured to backpack harness

Step 1: Securing the CO2 Tank

The 5 lb CO2 tank provides the power for your t-shirt launches. It needs to be securely fastened to the backpack harness.

Place the 5 lb CO2 tank into the designated pouch on the backpack harness. Ensure the straps are tightened firmly to prevent any movement during operation. A secure tank is crucial for both safety and comfort.

High-pressure hose with trigger assembly

Step 2: Connecting the High-Pressure Hose

Next, we'll connect the high-pressure hose that carries the CO2 to the trigger assembly and ultimately launches the t-shirts.

Take the 4-foot high-pressure hose. You'll notice the trigger assembly on one end and the brass CO2 connection nut on the other.

Step 3: Inspecting the CO2 Connection Nut

Before attaching the hose to the CO2 tank, take a close look at the brass CO2 connection nut. Inside, you should see a small white plastic o-ring. This o-ring is essential for creating a tight, leak-proof seal. Ensure it is in place and in good condition.

Step 4: Attaching the CO2 Connection Fitting to the Tank

Now, carefully screw the brass CO2 connection fitting onto the valve of the 5 lb CO2 tank. Turn it clockwise until it is hand-tight.

Use a wrench to tighten nut onto CO2 tank

Step 5: Finalizing the CO2 Tank Connection

Once the fitting is hand-tight, use a wrench to give it an additional ½ half turn. This ensures a secure and leak-free connection. Do not overtighten, as this could damage the fitting or the tank valve.

Step 6: Verifying the CO2 Tank, Hose, and Trigger Attachment

At this point, your CO2 tank should be securely strapped into the backpack harness, and the high-pressure hose should be firmly connected to the tank with the trigger assembly hanging freely.

Connect barrel to trigger assembly

Step 7: Attaching the Trigger Assembly to the Barrel

Now, let's connect the handheld trigger assembly to the barrel of the t-shirt cannon using the quick-disconnect fittings. Align the fitting on the trigger assembly with the fitting on the barrel.

Step 8: Seating the Barrel into the Quick-Disconnect Fitting

Push the barrel firmly into the quick-disconnect fitting on the trigger assembly. You will likely feel a slight click or resistance as it begins to seat. Observe the rings on the trigger fitting; they should be moving upwards towards the barrel as you push.

Pull the quick-disconnect ring back to lock the barrel

Step 9: Locking the Barrel in Place

Once the barrel is fully seated, pull the rings on the trigger fitting completely back towards the trigger assembly. This locking mechanism secures the barrel to the trigger, preventing accidental detachment during use.

Attach the safety cable from the trigger to the barrel

Step 10: Attaching the Safety Cable (Important Safety Feature!)

Your t-shirt cannon is equipped with a safety cable. Before using the cannon, always attach this cable. Typically, one end will attach to the trigger assembly, and the other end will attach to the barrel. This provides an extra layer of security to prevent the barrel from detaching.

Step 11: Your T-Shirt Cannon is Ready!

With all components connected and the safety cable attached, your mobile t-shirt cannon is now fully assembled and ready for action!

Step 12: Wearing the Backpack and Getting Ready to Launch

To operate the cannon, carefully put on the backpack harness. Ensure the CO2 tank is still secure and adjust the shoulder straps for a comfortable fit. Most importantly, fasten the waist belt securely around your waist. This helps distribute the weight and keeps the backpack stable. When ready to launch, point the barrel upwards and away from people or animals.

Prepare T-Shirts: Folding & Rolling for Best Launches

Step 1: Preparing Your T-Shirts: Laying it Out

Now for the ammunition! To ensure smooth launching, you'll need to properly fold your t-shirts. Start by laying the t-shirt flat on a clean surface.

Step 2: Folding the Sleeves

Next, fold both sleeves of the t-shirt inwards towards the center of the shirt, creating a more rectangular shape.

Step 3: Rolling the T-Shirt

Starting from the top (shoulder) area of the t-shirt, begin to roll it tightly. Roll as consistently and tightly as possible to create a compact cylinder.

Step 4: Securing the Rolled T-Shirt

Once the t-shirt is completely rolled, place at least three rubber bands around it to keep it tightly compressed. This will make it easier to load into the barrel and ensure a good launch.

Loading and Launching:

  • Ensure the cannon is pointed in a safe direction.
  • Open the loading end of the barrel.
  • Carefully insert the rolled and rubber-banded t-shirt into the barrel. Do not force it.
  • Close the loading end of the barrel.
  • Slowly depress the trigger to release CO2 and launch the t-shirt. The force and distance will depend on the duration of the trigger press.
  • Experiment to find the optimal pressure for your desired range.

After Use:

  • Always depressurize the system completely by carefully actuating the trigger until no more CO2 is released.
  • Once depressurized, you can disconnect the hose from the CO2 tank and the barrel from the trigger assembly.
  • Store the t-shirt cannon and its components in a safe and dry place.

Have fun and enjoy launching those t-shirts! Remember to always prioritize safety and be mindful of your surroundings.
